Bacopa Monnieri

No reviews

Bacopa monnieri, commonly known as water hyssop, is a hardy and versatile aquarium plant prized for its bright green, oval-shaped leaves and upright growth. This stem plant thrives in both submerged and emersed conditions, making it an excellent choice for freshwater aquariums, paludariums, and ripariums.

Easy to care for, Bacopa monnieri adapts well to a range of water conditions and lighting levels, though higher light encourages more compact growth. It is slow to moderate in growth, requiring minimal maintenance while providing a lush, natural look to the aquarium. The plant can be easily propagated through stem cuttings, allowing aquarists to create dense, bushy clusters.

Beyond its ornamental value, Bacopa monnieri is also known for its medicinal properties and is used in herbal supplements. In aquascaping, it is often placed in the midground or background, adding vertical contrast and texture to planted tanks. Its durability and adaptability make it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced aquarists.

    Pests & Algae

I do have snails in my tank.I do my best to pick off what I see. Duckweed have invaded a few tanks but most plants will be free of duckweed. Older leaves may have a bit of algae but I typically clean up all plants before shipping.
